Semi-active tuned mass dampers under combined variable actions of friction forces and external disturbances

Abstract Anti-seismic devices are employed to implement the best performance of structures under earthquakes. In this paper, semi-active tuned mass dampers (SA-TMDs) studied by considering several combinations variable friction forces and external disturbances. The damping model is used, where goal consists in estimating actions find force for system dampening. particular, general, sinusoidal, Gaussian dynamic loadings considered. To obtain response structure dampers, numerical solutions have been implemented. Probabilistic determines analyses also developed study different damper characteristics. Results show that a SA-TMD can reduce displacements up ~ 70.0% indicating good controlling oscillations. This technology not only preserves integrity mitigating its vibrations but improves life occupants their safety comfort. beneficial from perspective practical application, it an advancement with respect theme.
